  1. SSP Chawrasia tied for 19th in men’s golf
    The second round of the men’s golf event is currently underway, and India’s SSP Chawrasia is tied 19th in the overall leader board. In the second round, he is -1 under par currently after nine holes. The other Indian in the fray, Anirban Lahiri, is yet to tee-off on the second day of the event. Lahiri is tied for 46th currently.

    Vikas Gowda up next in discus throw
    Vikas Gowda is up in the men's discus throw event next. He was the silver-medalist in the Incheon Games in 2014 and would have been a contender for a final spot. But, a shoulder injury has laid the athlete low this year, and while he would look to do his best today, it just may not be enough at the end of the day. Good luck!

    Gutta-Ponnappa lose the match
    Gutta has produced some lovely touches at the nets today. Down 12-16, she brings out a stunning net-smash to start a revival. Ponnappa wins the next with another lovely drive, and soon they close to 15-16. Some back-and-forth sees the scores at 17-19. But Gutta makes errors on two consecutive points, and they have lost the match. That also means they are out of the tournament.

    They put up a good fight yesterday against the World No. 1s, and today was also a tight contest. Well played, women!

    Manpreet Kaur throws 16.76 m in her third and final attempt in the Women's shot put qualifying round. Kaur does not make it to the final as she was unable to exceed 18.40 which is the qualification mark for the final. Best 12 performers from the qualifying round will qualify for the final.

    Mairaj sixth after first round in men’s skeet
    India’s Mairaj Ahmad Khan is currently at the sixth position in men’s skeet event. He has scored 24 points in the first round, and has missed just one target. Two more rounds of 25 shots each are remaining on the first day of qualification, and 50 more shots on day 2. Top-6 from the qualification round will qualify for the semi-final.

    Gutta and Ponnappa fight back and win the second set
    What a turnaround this has been from the Indian pair. After losing the first set, they have now bounced back in style by the winning the second set 21-16. It is one set apiece at the moment as the match heads into the decider. This is a must win game for Gutta and Ponnappa, and they are giving it their all.

    Jinson Johnson finishes fifth in the Men’s 800m Round 1 Heat 3 with a timing of 1:47.27. He will now have to wait for the results from the other heats. There will be 7 heats in total and the top three from each heats will qualify, along with 3 of the best timers from the remaining.
